Rebecca had always had a thing about rings. She wasn’t quite sure what it was about rings that she loved so much. Every summer her family would spend at least a week on holiday in the beautiful seaside town about an hour away from their family home. Her favourite shop was one of those delightful dens of bohemian mystery with beautiful exotic pieces of clothing and jewellery from far away places. There was incense burning on the counter and a large glass cabinet at the front of the shop ladened with incredible rings of all shapes, sizes and colours that Rebecca could spend hours pouring over. Half the fun was just having a look and trying on ring after ring. Rebecca tried to save her pocket money every year so that she could buy herself a new ring from her favourite shop in her favourite seaside town each summer. By the time Rebecca left school she had quite a collection and used to love weekends when she was allowed to don her rings, at least one on every finger as she went out with her friends. What Rebecca loved most about her rings was the unique and special feeling and story that each one gave and told. She knew that not everybody would love her rings as much as she did and she knew that very few people would ever know the story that they told and the feelings that they gave. But to Rebecca that really didn’t matter because she knew and she got the joy and pleasure that those feelings and stories told every time she looked down at her silver clad hands.
